Dear Friend -
I’m writing to express my gratitude for your participation in At Home in the World and also to share my plan for 2024.
First, thanks to every one of you who has read or listened to any content that I’ve offered. My hope is that you’ve found something that has soothed or uplifted or inspired you. And thanks so much to those who have supported these practices through paid subscriptions. I deeply appreciate your generosity and faithfulness.
Last year I shared 52 guided audio practices - some with movement, some with stillness, and many with both - and also 52 written reflections. As I’ve been sharing this past year, I’ve realized that what I would love - for both myself and others - is to create a yearlong companion that helps us navigate the turbulent world with a sense of goodwill and good heart. I’d like a resource that flows with the seasons, that offers both insight and inspiration, and that feels like a soft place to land whenever we feel off-kilter and in need of a little reassurance and peace.
Our lives can be so frantic and stressful that we easily lose touch with what matters most. More often than we would like, perhaps, we are pulled into the world’s morass of discontent, unkindness and ill-will. We’d all prefer to live with clarity and goodwill, I am certain, and I believe most of us would love a little help figuring out how to do this. The challenge is to learn to navigate the world with strength and steadiness, without losing touch with our wise minds and warm hearts.
Practice is my answer: Heading out into the morning light for a few moments each day, sitting in stillness whenever a gap in the busy-ness appears, climbing onto that yoga mat mid-day when spirits sag, reading a few lines of a favorite poem, or perhaps practicing a little qigong at night just before bed. These practices and others become touchstones that keep our minds focused on what matters most. They are lifelines that tether us to the deeper truths and values we hold dear.
In the year ahead, I hope to continue sharing practices and reflections that help us find our way. Some will be new and some will be shared from the archives. We’re dealing in truth and not news here, so I hope you don’t mind re-exploring previously shared content from time to time. I also hope to add features to the site that continue building that yearlong companion I envision. Please let me know if there’s something new you’d like to see in our shared space.
The offerings are emailed each week and also remain on the website to explore any time. All of the content is available to paid subscribers and a growing selection is available to all. The subscription price is $30 annually or $6 monthly (with the option of contributing more for those who would like). Many thanks to those of you who are moved to support At Home in the World in this way.
Little by little and week by week, I hope to create an online home that feels like a good friend supporting us as we move through both the joys and sorrows of our lives. I hope that together we’ll build a rich toolkit of practices and principles that help us stay calm, steady and bright, no matter how crazy and unpredictable the outer world might be. I look forward to exploring this possibility together.
I’m sending my deep thanks to you for sharing this adventure, along with wishes for love, happiness and unshakeable wellbeing.
In gratitude,
Claudia
