How can we live with ease in ourselves and the world around us? How can we position ourselves in relationship with life so that each breath is free and unfettered, so that our bodies maintain a natural calm and steadiness, so that our minds are clear and wise? How can we live in that state of natural peace that is our birthright?
Surely this is our ultimate job: living with open eyes and hearts of peace, relaxing with ease and faith into the bounty of each moment. Surely, the most bright and balanced way of living in the world is with ease, in ease and through ease.
Yet how quickly we lose our footing. How we strain, and tire ourselves out in the process. How we tie ourselves up in knots and bend ourselves out of shape. We fight against the unending ways of life that have been with us since our very first breath. We delude ourselves into thinking that life it a battle rather than a song.
Does this help? Of course not!
Let's make this our season of easeful living. Let's spend a little time each day giving up the fight and settling into the heart of life, resting with what is. Let's soften our bodies and our brains until we remember how to exhale with soul-satisfying relief.
Let's learn how to live in peace with the moment just as it is, with no additional requirements. Perhaps we might commit to living in accord with each passing gift of the world. We might ask ourselves what brings us deepest peace and then commit to welcoming such deliciousness into our life every single day.
The starting point of natural ease rests with a welcoming spirit of acceptance. We are asked to  make peace with things as they are, to accept the truth of each moment (even the painful ones), to see past our delusions and straight into the truth of what is. We are invited to welcome all of life into our field of vision, moving beyond picking and choosing, no longer judging and micromanaging each moment of our lives.
When we realize there is nothing to defend, we are set free. We can relax, settle in, and take our true seats at home in the world, where we find ourselves beautifully, unconditionally in love with what is. And then we are able to live in a spirit of welcoming, of empathy, of yes. We are able to live with our doors and windows wide open, and we are able to befriend all that comes, in the natural course of life, with a deep and abiding sense of natural effortless and peace.
So, let us live in ease. Let us forsake the battle, instead positioning ourselves on the side of everyone and everything. Let’s live in harmony with the beautiful and shifting seasons. Through this commitment, we will learn to live with care as we learn to accept more than resist, and use our acceptance as a starting point for strong yet peaceful action. And surely, our newfound ease will help us broaden the vision of our lives so that we may see its fullness, its beauty, and the fundamental beauty and ease of all that is.
