Our inner bodies need space in order to move with ease and strength. Alas, sometimes the world conspires to leave us feeling strangled and stuck inside, as if there’s not enough room for the rivers of life to flow freely. Thankfully, gentle movement can help.
This 21-minute guided practice dives toward the body’s core, exploring gentle movements that help cultivate a long and spacious spine. We begin on our backs in “constructive rest” position, with the knees bent and the feet on the floor. Tuck a pillow under your head if you like, and adjust in any way that feels appropriate for you. As always, please stay within your comfort zone throughout the practice. If any movement causes strain, then stop, soften, and move in a happier way.
A little self-care goes a long way. If we want to be bright citizens of the world, we need to take good care of ourselves - physically, mentally and emotionally. We need to stretch and move and rest like the good animals we are. We need to connect in loving ways, both within and beyond. When we commit to taking good care of our lives, we nourish the rivers of happiness and vitality that flow within us all.
